The Fried family appears to have come to America from Germany in the mid to late 18th century. Lorentz Fried settled in Carroll County, Maryland while his children settled at Codorus in York County, Pennsylvania.

Diary

21 Feb 2005, I visited the old St. David's Lutheran Church in Hanover, Pennsylvania. I only found two Fried stones. The first stone was for my 5th great grandfather Lorentz Fried. I also found the stone of his wife, Elizabeth. There may be more but many of the stones are unreadable.

Ellen Mary Fried (599) was born on 15 Oct 1835 at Maryland, USA. She married Cornelius Victor Bressler (598), son of John Bressler (939) and Catharine Lawson (940), circa 1853. She died on 26 Feb 1926 at Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania, USA, at age 90. Ellen Mary Fried (599) was buried in the old section of the Bethlehem Steltz Churchyard, Codorus, York County, Pennsylvania, USA.

3. Alice Bressler (9973) was born between 1864 and 1872.
4. Edward Roland Bressler (132) was born on 8 Oct 1866 at Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania, USA. He and Alice Janetta Kinard (133), daughter of Aaron D. Kinard (943) and Louisa Gerberich (944), were married by Minister of the Gospel, William M. Ketterman on 13 Nov 1887 at the parsonage.
5. Henry S. Bressler (4879) was born on 29 Dec 1869 at Pennsylvania, USA. He died on 14 Aug 1870 at Pennsylvania, USA. He was buried at Bethlehem Steltz Churchyard, Codorus, York County, Pennsylvania, USA.
6. Eliza Cathryn Bressler (4992) was born on 4 Jul 1871 at Pennsylvania, USA. She married William Henry Bubb (4993) on 9 May 1895 at York County, Pennsylvania, USA.
