Our Rose family lived much of the last two centuries in southwestern Virginia and the mountains of North Carolina. Some research places the Rose immigrants at Kilvarock, Scotland in the early 18th century. It is difficult to confirm this however as much of the early records are incomplete.

He and Nancy Caroline Salyer (135) were granted license to marry on 19 Dec 1884 at Dickenson County, Virginia, USA. He married Nancy Caroline Salyer (135), daughter of Reuben Salyer (151) and Mary Powers (152), on 20 Dec 1884 at Dickenson County, Virginia, USA. He married Geneva Allifair Gilliam (323), daughter of Isaac Gilliam (10915) and Lucinda (--?--) (13073), before 1900. He married Katie Hensley (322), daughter of (--?--) Hensley (352) and Martha (--?--) (353), on 24 Sep 1902 at Dickenson County, Virginia, USA. He died circa 1917. He was buried at Salyer Cemetery, Wise County, Virginia, USA.

  2. Leonard Rose (325) was born circa 1907. Leonard had his arm cut off in an accident when he was 10 years old. His father was "so upset and full of guilt" that he went home, laid down, and died 10 days later.
  3. Callie Rose (326).
  4. Rhetta Arlene Rose (327) married Thurmon Wells (333).
    5. She also went by the name of Lina (327). She was also known as Rettie A. (327). She resided in 1997 at Chesapeake, Virginia, USA.
  5. Bessie Elizabeth Rose (328), born 18 Sep 1903 at Dickenson County, Virginia, USA; married Edd Dollarhide (334).
  6. Pirley Rose (329).
  7. Dorthy Rose (330).

There were no children of John H. Rose (134) and Katie Hensley (322).
