Some research places the Rose immigrants at Kilvarock, Scotland in the early 18th century. It is difficult to confirm this however as much of the early records are incomplete. He married Elizabeth Powers (147), daughter of Rev. Reuben H. Powers (1984) and Katherine Estep (1985), circa 1852 at Caney Creek, Russell (now Dickenson) County, Virginia, USA. He died on 20 May 1897 at Lecco, Dickenson County, Virginia, USA, at age 68. He was buried at Wright Cemetery, Letcher County, Kentucky, USA. Children of Robert Vance Rose and Elizabeth Powers were as follows: Martha Jane Rose (1768), born 21 Mar 1853 at Russell County, Virginia, USA; married John Wesley Adkins (3777). Samuel Rose (1769), born 21 Dec 1854 at Russell County, Virginia, USA; married Jaila Powers (1907). Catherine Ann Rose (1770), born 28 Nov 1856 at Wise County, Virginia, USA; married Emanuel Mullins (1908). John H. Rose (134), born circa 1859 at Wise County, Virginia, USA; married Elizabeth Buchanan (306); marriage license Nancy Caroline Salyer (135); married Geneva Allifair Gilliam (323); married Katie Hensley (322). General Washington Rose (3594), born 17 Jul 1861 at Wise County, Virginia, USA; married Mahala Wright (10799); married E. F. (--?--) (3603). Reuben Rose (342), born Feb 1863 at Wise County, Virginia, USA; married Florida Stanley (343). William Tecumseh Sherman Rose (1771), born 9 Feb 1866 at Kentucky, USA; married Martha Fletcher (1905). Susan Rose (1772) was born on 9 Sep 1870 at Wise County, Virginia, USA. She and Isaac Wright (1906) were granted license to marry on 31 Mar 1885 at Dickenson County, Virginia, USA. She married Isaac Wright (1906), son of George Wright Sr. (10795) and Mary Potter (10796). She died on 30 Jun 1936 at West Liberty, Kentucky, USA, at age 65. Ellender Rose (1781) was born on 20 Dec 1875 at Wise (now Dickenson) County, Virginia, USA. She married William Mullins (2046), son of Andrew Jackson Mullins (1036) and Phoebe Vance (1843). She died on 8 Feb 1957 at age 81 Sarah Etta Rose (3913), born 14 May 1880 at Virginia, USA; married George William Wright (5969).
